Sir Peter was touring the Mega Mela festival in Platt Fields Park yesterday when he walked past a stall selling the e-cigarettes. He took up the offer of sampling a peach-flavoured smoke and enjoyed two puffs. The Greater Manchester Police chief constable was pictured exhaling some smoke through his nostrils, watched by a female officer. Dressed in his uniform and peaked cap but in short sleeves and vest for the weather, he puffed on the e-cigarette twice. Stallholder Zeeshan Khan, from Longsight, said Sir Peter had enjoyed sampling the Shishaah e-cigarette.

Manufacturers can, according to the study, make unrestricted advertising appeals, provided they do not market their products as smoking cessation devices. In an analysis of over 73,000 tweets from a two-month period in 2012, the authors concluded that nearly 11 percent of commercial tweets touted cessation as one of the benefits of e-cigarettes, with a potential reach of 7.4 million Twitter users. These tweets werent part of Twitters advertising program, but they werent organic either. The authors concluded that the Twitter accounts were commercial in nature; that is, they touted websites and resellers of e-cigarette products, along with the cessation claims that e-cigarette sellers are supposed to be barred from making.
